Buy some hair product that curls your hair and scrunch it into your hair with your fingers...

Try L'Oreal StudioLine UltimFix Hair Spray....and perhaps try and spray throughout the curl process rather than after the whole head is finished.

I have straight hair too, and I have to use a mousse, curl spray ( any kind will work ) and hair spray! Just make sure you don't over do it, other wise you will have a bunch of gunk in your hair, and all of your curls will stick together!

Do not use hairspray. Hairspray will cause the hair to become hard and stiff and hard to comb which will cause hair breakage.

I use rollers and a bottle of setting lotion to hold my curls.
