How long do you think this straight hair fashion will last?

I was wondering if there are any experienced hair stylists who could tell me, how long do you think girls and some boys will be straightening their hair for. I think it will be a fashion symbol of the 00's. Like mullets in the 80's. Wonder if it has any effect on their scalps and hair roots? How long has it been around? Will it be here forever now or will it die out??

i think straight hair is one of very few hairstyle that never go out of style. a crapload of people are born naturally with straight hair, and most of them dont do anything permanent to it- so i doubt it will go out of fashion any time soon. As for effect on scalps and hair roots - i'm not sure, maybe it depends on how they're fixing their hair and what they're doing to get it the way they have it? good luck.

I reckon it will last as long as the companys who supply straighteners have the cash to glamourise and advertise that straight hair is beautiful.

Seeing as these companys make millions i reckon ti will be around for a long time to come.

Its gunna be around for like ages.. dunt think it would die out since many people look great with straight hair and wud prob. stick to that style. =]

it is already dying out to voluminous locks! the whole japenese influenced, flat to your head straightening style is out! and another new trend in hair is not washing it (weird, i know.) lots of people are beginning to fear the chemicals in shampoo and ditching the stuff all together. unclean hair can be teased and shaped better, so bigger hair is becoming a style.

im not too sure how to answer this question but i think it will be in style for a while... i straighten my hair everyday and i seriously always will, bc its easy to do and it looks good.

Straight hair is nothing new; people have been doing it for decades and will continue to..Unfortunately its a racial/cultural issue. In America, Caucasan features such as straight hair are preferred and generally considered "beautiful", while curly hair is considered "ugly," and must be "fixed." I live through this everyday; for years I was made fun of and treated terribly cuz I have very curly hair and am white. It depressed me that something so superfical is that important. I may be straightening my hair soon and I know I will get better treatment, its just sad that no one will accept me the way I am...If by straight hair, you mean the super straight side bang look, well that is hopefully ending soon but as far people giving up straightening all together, that's impossible.

It will exist until the end of time. My guess is straigtening can probably weaken the hair roots and shaft over time if done often enough. I feel that it's been around for as long as it can be shown in a photo if not earlier. I doubt it will die out though as straight hair can be the most versatile to style in different ways.

Im a hair stylist but even I dont know, I dont think anyone can know for sure but I can tell you that it will be here for a very long time because its not even really that hard to do because anyone can do it. It is as easy as buying a hair straightener. I would not really call it a hair do because many people have naturaly straight hair so for many people it comes as natural as having curly and wavy hair so it will be here for a very very very long time.
