no it will not make your hair curly. you would have to get a jherri curl/ perm set on rods to make your hair curly. All chemicals will damage the hair, but a competent stylist will minimize the damage. She will also be able to suggest products to maintain the health of your newly processed hair. Your hair grows about 1/2" per month so it will be up to you to determine when you need another perm. I usually tell my clients to get a retouch every 3-4 months in order to maintain control. More than 2" of new growth will only make you crazy.

Um... S-Curl is a texturize which loosens the texture of very kinky hair into a nice curly/wavy pattern which is more managable. So, no it will not make your straight hair curly. You would have to ask a salonist what type of permanent they use to do that, but I have no idea what that chemical is, since I'm black so perms I know of straighten kinky hair...
